About the Journal
Fabula Humana: Journal of History Education is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research, theory, and practice in history education and historical learning. The journal explores how history is taught, learned, interpreted, and experienced across formal and informal educational settings.
The journal welcomes original research articles, theoretical papers, case studies, and reviews that address topics including, but not limited to:
- History education and pedagogy
- Curriculum design and historical literacy
- Teaching methods and classroom innovation
- Public history and museum education
- Heritage education and cultural memory
- Digital history and digital learning
- Decolonising history education
- Local, indigenous, and community histories

- Interdisciplinary approaches linking history, sociology, anthropology, and education
The journal prioritises inclusive perspectives and encourages contributions from diverse geographical, cultural, and epistemic backgrounds, particularly voices from the Global South.
Editorial Policy
Fabula Humana publishes original and unpublished works that contribute to theoretical development, methodological innovation, and empirical understanding within the humanities and social sciences. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure scholarly quality and integrity.
Accepted manuscript types include:
- Research Articles – Full-length academic studies based on original research.
- Review Articles – Critical reviews or syntheses of existing scholarship.
- Book or Exhibition Reviews – Analytical reflections on recent publications or exhibitions relevant to the journal’s scope.
Submissions are accepted in English or Bahasa Indonesia, with bilingual abstracts encouraged to enhance accessibility.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY SA-NC 4.0), allowing others to share and adapt the work with proper attribution for non-commercial use.
Publication Frequency
Fabula Humana publishes two issues per year (June and December).
Special issues may be released occasionally to highlight particular themes or collaborative research projects.
Publication Ethics
Fabula Humana adheres to the ethical standards of scholarly publishing as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold principles of honesty, transparency, and integrity.
Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical research practice will result in rejection or retraction.
Digital Archiving
Fabula Humana ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content through multiple archiving strategies.
All articles published in Fabula Humana are permanently stored and openly accessible in the Zenodo Open Access Repository, operated by CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research) and OpenAIRE. Zenodo ensures long-term digital preservation and assigns a persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to each uploaded article.
Indexing and Visibility
Fabula Humana aims to be indexed in national and international databases, including Garuda, Dimensions, DOAJ, and Scopus as part of its commitment to global visibility and academic quality.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
To support our open access policy and high-quality review from our team, the published article will be subject to an IDR 200.000 publication fee. The fees will only be charged after the article is deemed suitable for publication.
